Infrastructure

In recent years, enormous investments have been made in Finland’s infrastructure. Through recent undertakings ranging from the expansion of the Helsinki Airport to the construction of a new cargo harbor and extending its fiber optic networks, Helsinki has one of the best infrastructures in the world.

The infrastructure in Helsinki works effectively in every aspect. Getting around in the region is easy. The network of commuter trains, metro, trams and buses take you flexibly from the surrounding areas to downtown Helsinki. The four major cities in the region; Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen; form a closely knit urban area, enabling seamless travel for daily commuting between the cities. There are many business districts in the area. Aviapolis (in Vantaa) is located a mere stone’s throw away from the Helsinki Airport. Otaniemi (in Espoo) offers premises for those seeking an environment catering to technology and innovation. Ruoholahti (in Helsinki) is located right next to the Helsinki city center. A high number of knowledge intensive businesses operate in all three business districts.
